Fantasy Genius Week 8 Recap
Julio & DeAndre in the end zone together like it's 2004. Taysom Hill is Oddjob. And what happened to Rams WRs?
Enough chit chat let’s dive in.
CMC is the greatest fantasy player ever. Not even going to bother crunching the numbers on this. If I’m wrong, I’ll happily quit this unpaid internship my Dad got me because he knows the CEO.
Bengals are BAAAAAACK. Anyone who doubted this team is a fool.
Jahmyr Gibbs (rookie RB from DET) had his second monster game (31 touches for 189 scrimmage yards and a TD) and certainly contributed to a few Monday Night miracles.
Mahomes had his worst game ever, dropping a 5.6 DUD on the elite Broncos in what was supposed to be a snow game and ended up….not being that. At all. I can’t think of a lower move from somebody than promising a snow game and being wrong. Jim Cantore would never mislead us like this.
*narrator voice* there was no snow Puka & Kupp both with terrible games. Never thought we’d see the day.
CeeDEE with a career game against the Rams with 12 catches for 158 and 2 TDs.
The Eagles WR1 Julio ended up with a HECK of a contested TD catch. Glad to see him in the end zone again.
DeAndre Hopkins looking like the Undertaker out here coming back alive with 128 yards and 3TDs. His rookie QB Will Levis (rostered in 37% of leagues) was making his first start too. I don’t think anybody saw this Hopkins blowout coming as his start % across FG leagues was about 50%. So…I guess maybe half of the D-Hop holders saw it coming.
Dawgs & Leaders
The Dawgs & Leaders are the top 10 players that contributed to a fantasy win when they were started. Largely some current studs or future studs on this list. And Sam Howell.

I would have bet everything in my wallet Sam Howell would avoid the dawgs list this year. Glad I am not a betting guy.

I would have lost all $112.32 in checking if someone wanted to bet me that Mahomes AND Kupp would be on this list in the same week.
And Davante here too? I don’t understand it. I would have lost all $82.12 in savings too if someone added him to the aforementioned Mahomes/Kupp bet.

Taysom Hill Dead Cat Bounce?
I have been burned on 3 separate occasions starting Taysom Hill the game after a big game. He is the most compelling positional player available because he is listed as a TE which is a notoriously shallow position. And this guy can play QB and sometimes the Saints act like he’s an RB as well. Unreal hypothetical upside plugging a guy who can, in theory, do everything into the tough TE spot. He’s like the Oddjob of the fantasy football world. A total cheat code.
I assumed that he pretty much always has a bad game after the big game since I always get burned. I decided to pull the data so I don’t make the mistake a 4th time.
Here we take a look at every game Taysom had AFTER going for 15+ the week prior. He has had 2 distinct periods where he was just hot for a few weeks as you can see with both red spikes being all within a 3-4 game span. A lot of big duds in here though.
And here are Hill’s game level logs so we can see the full picture. You can see below he has gotten hot the past few weeks (teeny bars all the way on the right, Dad) which he has done only a couple times in his career.
